oil candles
These oil candles make an impressive grouping for a centerpiece or to show off on a mantle or end table. They are all hand thrown on a potter's wheel by Bob.
The glazes are applied by dipping and brushing and dipping again. Each piece is fired twice and reaches temperatures of up to 2,375 degrees F. They are fired to such a high temperature that the porcelain is close to being a glass. Therefore they hold liquids beautifully with no possibility of leaking oil. Some potters fire to lower temperatures and leakage is a problem with their work.
The wicks are fiberglass and don't burn, so they are sometimes called "lifetime wicks".
They use Ultra Pure Paraffin oil found in stores like Michael's Crafts, Meier, Ace Hardware, Do-It- Best-Hardware, K-mart and others.
Each piece varies slightly and is from 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches tall.
The black iron stands measure 6, 7 1/2 and 9 inches tall.
